!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Did these come with a manual? I feel like an old Ford auto is probably a disappointing experience, but it does look really clean. And cheap. I don’t love how these look, but it intrigues me.

I believe they all had the same AOD automatic as my Town Car, but people have done manual conversions.

Apparently there were a few 1984 or 1985 Mark VII’s with the BMW turbodiesel.
And those had a ZF 4 speed auto instead of the Ford AOD.
If there are any manual ones, it was a conversion the owner got done after. It shares the chassis with the Thunderbird/Cougar which had a manual transmission available.

Check on the air suspension...if fitted, can be an issue (although not *too* difficult to repair iirc, esp. if DIYer)
Looks exceptional for the age compared to how most look by now
iirc the enthusiast mags quite liked them at the time especially in comparison to the other contemp. Big 3 offerings

The air suspension does give me pause, but it does look like a very well-kept car.

If you’d rather have a ZF automatic than the Ford automatic, they made a BMW diesel version early in the run.
No manual, though.

It’s a shift kit and manual valve body away from you not caring about the AOD slush box.

The air ride tends to break (like others have said) but you can convert them to standard shocks. It won’t be as smooth but it won’t be broken all the time. Great motor in it with tons of power add ons available for cheap. Manual SWAP would be a thing if you wanted it, but unless you’re going all out and turning it into a drag car it’s more of a cruiser so I would just let it be.

I think the it’s equivalent Thunderbird was available with a manual trans.

The only T-brids that got 3 pedals were Fox Turbo Coupes and MN12 Super Coupes. No V8 car got a stick from the factory.

That’s an absolute steal.
The air suspension is not difficult at all to repair, if you have an issue. It’s more work to swap coils in than an air spring or compressor.
